Going on vacation is something many people look forward to when they’re off from work. It’s a chance to unwind, take in the sun, and immerse one’s self into their favourite book. But for pet owners, going on vacation can be one of the most guilt-ridden experiences of their lives. Especially for dogs with separation anxiety, putting them up in a kennel can do horrible things to their psyches.
But one woman decided to not leave her dog behind and involved him in her vacation plans. Emmy Karnót, from Germany, decided to travel to the Phillipines and found a stray puppy when she got to the beaches of Borocay.
He was sleeping under a police car and, as a joke, the officer handed to the pup to her as a “birthday present.” Emmy was worried that she would do everything wrong, as she’d never owned a dog before, but she aptly named him Buddy, and decided to go from there.
Buddy grew in leaps and bounds and came to love his new owner. They splashed in the waters together, and when it came time for Emmy to leave, she added Buddy to her travel plans.
Now the pup has a new home in Germany, where he can lie at the foot of her bed and enjoy as many table scraps as he wants.
It doesn’t have the same warm climate as the Phillipines, but we don’t think Buddy really minds not having to sleep alone on the warm sands anymore.
